Today in Moscow a multitudinous rally was held by relatives of the victims of Josef Stalin’s purges. According to Sergei Volkov, of the Russian Association of Victims of Political Repression, not a single top official attended the proceedings to lay a flower at the Solovetsky prison camp memorial (Solovki). Volkov said: “There’s a law [in Russia] on the rehabilitation of the victims of political repressions that was drafted by us, by public organizations, and was adopted and signed in 1991 by President [Boris] Yeltsin. It states clearly that the state recognizes its guilt. Today, for some reason, nobody talks about it.” Below are some photos from the event.
