Paul Kennedy: Worried About Putin’s Russia?

Paul Kennedy, director of International Security Studies at Yale University, has a syndicated column about Russia out today. Largely a laundry list of Russian wrongdoing (including criticism of pipeline imperialism and energy expropriation), the article sounds the alarm over the dangerous pot stirring of nationalism and rewritten history:

“What intrigues me are the broader and more subtle measures being instituted by the Putin regime to enhance national – and, even more, nationalist – pride. They point to something much more purposeful, and potentially quite sinister.”
