Russia has been declared champion of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, with the artist Dima Bilan beating out the stiff competition in a globally televised event of perplexingly enormous national pride. To me, it’s all pretty strange (don’t get me started on my opinion of many of these songs), but it’s nice to see Russia enjoying the fruits of democratic voting. Congrats!!!
