Russia’s role as a potential hazard to the post-2012 climate-change negotiations is being dramatically underestimated.‘  Ukraine has agreed to pay back its gas debts to Gazprom and rescue plans to secure next year’s supply.  OPEC is apparently anxious to ‘firm up the market‘, and Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko says Russia may work with OPEC on oil production to help stem the fall of oil prices and ‘defend its interest‘.
