“I think now no one doubts anymore that Khodorkovsky and Lebedev are clearly prisoners of conscience.”So true. The malignant trolls who prowl the Kremlin, led by Putin and Medvedev, doubt it. But the term “one” implies humanity, and they do not qualify. But this is a double-edged sword. If no normal humans in the Russian population doubt it, then their silence in the face of his wanton persecution is nearly as reprehensible as that of the prosecutors, or of those who in Stalin’s time informed on their neighbors.Shame on you, Russians!
“I think now no one doubts anymore that Khodorkovsky and Lebedev are clearly prisoners of conscience.”I couldn’t agree more! There are of course all sorts of life forms prowling the Kremlin who do doubt it but, led by Medvedev and Putin, they hardly qualify for the humanity that the term “one” implies. It’s a double-edged sword, however. If nobody in the Russian population doubts it, then how can they remain silent. Only by the same means that caused them to speak up when informing on their neighbors in Soviet times. That is reprehensible, and more Russian leaders should confront them about it.Shame on you, cowardly Russians lurking in your dark places. Today it is Khodorkovsky but tomorrow? Ask not for whom the bell tolls!
