Leaked documents show that world leaders will be asked to sign an agreement that ‘sidelines the UN’s role in all future climate change negotiations‘ and abandons the Kyoto protocol, according to The Guardian, who says that the Copenhagen climate talks are ‘in disarray‘ as a result.  A LUKoil executive is scaremongering about Russia signing any post-Kyoto protocol, calling any Copenhagen agreement ‘a global fraud‘ that would cause Russia’s natural gas exports to fall dramatically.  A meeting of natural gas exporters in Qatar today will seek ways of maintaining a link between oil and gas prices.  Mexico has taken out a $1 billion insurance policy against oil prices falling next year.  Political relations in the Middle East could face upheaval if Iraq succeeds in tripling oil output, says Reuters.
