The United Nations insists that it wants to keep guiding climate change talks, despite last month’s disastrous Copenhagen summit. According to the head of the organization’s climate change administration, ‘Copenhagen didn’t produce the final cake but it left the countries with all the right ingredients to bake a new one in Mexico.‘  A KPMG survey says that Russia’s electricity sector will need at least $500 billion of investment over the next ten years if it is to meet demand.  US techniques for natural gas drilling are facing a mounting backlash over the potential pollution of freshwater supplies that could discourage companies from tapping resources, says the WSJ.  How likely are forecasts that the US could rely on wind energy for 20% of its total requirements by 2024?
