Energy Blast – Jan 6, 2011

Western diplomats have reportedly advised that the European Union, Russia and China should reject Iran’s invitation to visit its nuclear facilities, as that would undermine the role of the UN’s nuclear watchdog.  According to a new report, India is an exciting prospect for solar power production this year.  Bloomberg reports that Turkey could be obligated to pay Russia for as much as 3.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas it did not use in 2010 under a take-or-pay contract.  Saudi Arabia has reportedly offered a joint venture, which includes Italy’s Eni SpA and Repsol YPF SA of Spain, at least six more months to drill an exploration well for gas in the Rub’ al-Khali desert.
