Russia and Poland are due to review their gas supply contracts tomorrow, amid discussion that the current contracts could be shortened by twelve years.  TNK-BP is reportedly in ongoing talks with gas trader Itera, and could take a 50% stake in the company.  An asset swap between Eurasia Drilling and Schlumberger will not make a dent in the latter company’s financial status, it says, but will see 80 rigs changing hands.  The White House is to have solar energy panels installed – with ‘modest energy benefits‘ but strong ‘symbolic importance‘.  The Globe and Mail has an interesting review of ‘A Cubic Mile of Oil‘, a new Californian study of global energy consumption and the possibilities for meeting future demands.  Energy from landfill waste?
