Landmark decision: Swiss Supreme Court Denies Russian Request for Assistance in the Khodorkovsky/Yukos Case Philippe Neyroud, senior partner in the Geneva law firm Poncet, Turrenttini, Amaudruz, Neyroud & Associes, and Robert Amsterdam, international legal counsel for Mikhail Khodorkovsky, will comment on a major legal development in the Khodorkovsky/YUKOS case. In a landmark decision, Switzerland’s highest court, the Federal Tribunal, has ruled that the Russian Government’s prosecution of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Platon Lebedev and Leonid Nevzlin is politically motivated and that their legal and human rights have been violated by the Russian authorities. The Swiss Court has therefore ordered Swiss authorities not to cooperate with the Russian government’s request for documents and other information in these cases. The decision is a major victory for Khodorkovsky and his co-defendants. Copies of the Swiss court’s opinions will be available in both French and English. PRESS CONFERENCE: Friday, 24 August 2007 12:30 p.m. Swiss/European Central Time 2:30 p.m. Moscow time FOR MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA, REQUEST CONFERENCE CALL-IN INFO HERE.
