New Episode of Departures Podcast Featuring David Kilcullen

In these strange and uncertain times, most of us find ourselves in isolation, self-quarantine, or practicing social distancing by staying home for what appears to be quite an extended period of time. For many of us accustomed to working internationally, the COVID-19 layover has represented, well, an existential shift.

But the good news is that staying home allows for more time to catch up on reading, and what better time to pick up the next season of our Departures podcast with some special author interviews.  I’m very proud to release this latest interview we conducted with the soldier-scholar David Kilcullen to discuss his excellent book, “The Dragons and the Snakes: How the Rest Learned to Fight the West.”

I particularly enjoyed discussing this book with Kilcullen, with a focus not only on the evolving tactics of non-state threats to the West like ISIS and Hezbollah, but also having the opportunity to take a very close look at what exactly China and Russia have learned in the past 25 years, and how we see them operating on a tactical level to compete with Western influence.

Please have a listen to the podcast below or find us on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, or your podcast app of choice. I look forward to hearing your thoughts, and stay tuned for the announcement of our next interview coming soon!
