Today the Associated Press is reporting that the Russian security services have raided the offices of the legally troubled company Sibir Energy. Earlier this spring we saw Gazprom begin to pull some moves on Sibir that were very similar to its maneuvering around TNK-BP, Royal Dutch Shell, and even Yukos, involving arrest warrants, corporate raids, visa troubles for executives, environmental hang ups, etc.
It’s almost coming to the point at which we could measure progress in the fight against legal nihilism by counting whether these kinds of office raids are increasing or decreasing. Unfortunately, things seem to be on the uptick.
