Has Russia missed the chance to strike a lucrative partnership with China over energy resources?‘  A rise in prices has boosted Lukoil’s first quarter income, although production has dropped 5.1%.  Rosatom wants to revive its ties with Germany’s Siemens, despite the latter’s recent ‘strategy shift‘.  Speaking at an OECD meeting ahead of the G8 summit, Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan discussed plans to bring renewable energy to the forefront of Japanese energy policy, but questions remain over the level of Japan’s nuclear dependence.  Greenpeace has announced a ‘summer of protest‘ against Edinburgh-based Cairn Energy over its Arctic exploration.
